Founded in 2023 by artists Matt Velarde and Fi Wallace Velarde, the gallery was born from a shared passion for making contemporary British art more accessible in Devon. Matt’s background in fine art photography and Fi’s work as a painter and printmaker bring a strong artistic vision and personal approach to the gallery’s curation.
“We wanted to create an inspiring and thought-provoking gallery space that connects people with outstanding contemporary art and artists,” says Fi Wallace Velarde. “Art has the power to uplift, transform spaces, and enrich everyday life, and we wanted Velarde to become a place where people feel genuinely inspired.”
