Sculpture Garden

Positioned beside our gallery space and enjoying a south-west fcaing aspect, the garden proovides a peaceful setting to explore contemporary sculpture in an ever-changing natural environment. Thoughtfully designed with a carefully curated planting scheme of native and architectural plants, the garden reflects Velarde’s commitment to sustainability, biodiversity and contemporary design. Gravel pathways wind through borders filled with Cornus alba Elegantissima, Teucrium Lucidrys, Cornus Flaviramea and seasonal planting, alongside a wildlife pond and water feature designed to encourage birds, bees and local wildlife.

The sculpture garden showcases a diverse collection of contemporary sculpture by established and emerging British artists, from local Devon sculptors to internationally recognised names. Featured artists include acclaimed British sculptor Peter Randall-Page RA, with works direct from his Dartmoor studio, alongside the distinctive figurative pieces of Jilly Sutton and elegant bronze sculpture by Antonio Lopez Reche. Abstract contemporary works by Sam Shendi MRSS and Richard Perry sit alongside colourful sculptural forms by Patricia Volk FRSS and hanging installations by Clee Claire Lee MRSS.

In addition to the works currently on display, Velarde works closely with a wider network of contemporary sculptors across the UK, enabling us to source and commission unique sculptures for private gardens, interiors and public spaces.
