David Hardy is a multidisciplinary artist based in Wales. He studied Fine Art at Winchester School of Art, and after graduating moved to London where he expanded his practice into graphic design, photography and painting. After working at The Royal Society of Arts and London College of Fashion as the resident designer, David relocated to a converted barn and studio in the Cambrian Mountains to focus on his photography and painting.
David takes inspiration from the spectacular environment of rural Wales, often referencing the landscape, found forms and his own photography as starting point for his works. Using a restricted palette, he creates paintings that focus on composition, depth and texture without the distraction of colour.
"I want my paintings to show simplicity and struggle at the same time, as there are no logical meanings or definition behind the paintings."
